Annual Accounts

Year-end accounts prepared and filed with Companies House and HMRC, on time and without the last-minute scramble, for small businesses across Glasgow, Lanarkshire and the UK.

What you get

Filed on Time, and Explained

Every limited company has to file accounts with Companies House and a corporation tax return with HMRC each year, and sole traders and partners have their own self assessment deadlines. We prepare the accounts, handle the filings, and tell you what the figures mean before you sign them, rather than sending a PDF and a signature request.

We also look for what can be done better next year: how you take money out of the business, the timing of big purchases, and anything sitting in a director’s loan account that should not be.

  • Preparation of Year-End Accounts

Ensuring your financial reports meet all regulatory requirements.

  • Companies House & HMRC Submissions

Filing your accounts correctly and on time.

  • Review & Financial Analysis

Helping you understand your financial position and business performance.

  • Tax Efficiency Planning

Identifying opportunities to minimise tax liabilities legally and efficiently.

  • Support for Sole Traders & Limited Companies

Tailored services to meet your business needs.

Is it time?

Signs Your Year End Needs a Different Approach

  • Every year end is a scramble to find paperwork, and the accounts are filed close to the deadline.

  • You have had, or come close to, a Companies House late filing penalty.

  • You have just incorporated, or are thinking about it, and are not sure what changes.

  • Your accountant files the accounts but never explains them, or what you could do differently.

  • Your director’s loan account balance is a mystery until the accounts arrive.

  • You want the year end to be a short step from monthly figures you have already seen.

How it works

From First Call to Up and Running

  1. Step 1

    Free 30-minute call

We confirm your year end, filing deadlines and current set-up, and agree a fixed fee for the accounts and returns.

  2. Step 2

    Records and review

We work from your Xero or QuickBooks records, or tidy them first if they need it, and send any questions in one list.

  3. Step 3

    Accounts and tax return

We prepare the statutory accounts and corporation tax return, or your self assessment figures, and talk you through them before you approve.

  4. Step 4

    Filing and next year

We file with Companies House and HMRC, confirm what tax is due and when, and agree anything to change for the year ahead.

Glasgow & Lanarkshire

Annual Accounts for Glasgow & Lanarkshire Businesses

Glasgow and Lanarkshire have a steady stream of businesses making the step from sole trader to limited company, and the first set of statutory accounts is where the differences land. We are based in Uddingston, so clients across Glasgow and Lanarkshire can sit down with us to go through their accounts in person, while everyone else does the same over a video call.

FAQ

Annual Accounts Questions.

When are my annual accounts due?

For a private limited company, accounts are due at Companies House nine months after the end of the financial year. Corporation tax is payable nine months and one day after the year end, and the corporation tax return is due within twelve months. Your first accounts after incorporating have a different deadline, which we will confirm for you.

Do you do accounts for sole traders as well as limited companies?

Yes. Sole traders and partnerships do not file accounts at Companies House, but still need accurate year-end figures for their self assessment tax return, which we prepare.

Can you take over from my current accountant?

Yes. With your permission we contact your previous accountant for professional clearance and the prior year figures, so nothing falls through the gap. Changing mid-year is fine.

Can you help reduce my tax bill?

We look for legitimate ways to make your tax position more efficient, such as how directors are paid, claiming everything you are entitled to and the timing of investment, and explain the options before the year end rather than after.

How much do annual accounts cost?

We agree a fixed fee up front, based on the size and complexity of the business and the state of the records. Clients who also use our bookkeeping or management accounts usually find the year end costs less, because the work is largely done.
