Cash Flow Planning

Rolling cash flow forecasts that show what is coming in and going out over the weeks and months ahead, so you can make decisions before money gets tight, for small businesses across Glasgow, Lanarkshire and the UK.

What you get

See the Squeeze Before It Arrives

Profitable businesses still run out of cash. Materials and wages go out this week, customers pay in six, VAT and corporation tax land in lumps, and growth makes the gap wider. A cash flow forecast lays all of that out week by week or month by month, so a shortfall shows up while there is still time to chase a debtor, stage a payment or arrange finance.

We build the forecast from your real figures in Xero, update it as actuals come in, and add “what if” scenarios for the decisions in front of you, from a new hire to a big contract to a quiet quarter.

Is it time?

When a Cash Flow Forecast Makes the Difference

  • The business is busy and profitable on paper, but the bank balance is always tight.

  • VAT, PAYE or corporation tax bills catch you out because nobody saw them coming.

  • You are taking on bigger contracts or more staff and need to know you can fund the gap.

  • A bank or lender has asked for a cash flow forecast to support a loan or overdraft.

  • Trade is seasonal and the quiet months are a worry every year.

  • You check the bank app every morning to decide what you can afford to pay.

From First Call to Up and Running

  1. Step 1

    Free 30-minute call

We talk through what is worrying you, how far ahead you need to see, and whether a weekly or monthly forecast fits best.

  2. Step 2

    Build the forecast

We build it from your actual income, costs, payment terms and tax dates in Xero, not from guesswork, and agree a fixed fee.

  3. Step 3

    Scenarios

We model the decisions you are weighing up, so you can see the cash effect of a hire, a contract or a slow month before committing.

  4. Step 4

    Roll it forward

Each month we update the forecast with actuals, flag anything that has moved and talk through what to do about it.

Glasgow & Lanarkshire

Cash Flow Planning for Glasgow & Lanarkshire Businesses

For trades, logistics and manufacturing businesses across Lanarkshire, and growing service and e-commerce businesses in Glasgow, cash rarely fails because the work is unprofitable. It fails on timing. Our Uddingston base is a short drive from both, so we can sit down with you to build the first forecast in person, then keep it rolling remotely.

FAQ

Cash Flow Planning Questions.

What is the difference between cash flow and profit?

Profit is income minus costs over a period. Cash flow is when the money actually moves. A business can be profitable and still run short of cash if customers pay slowly, stock ties money up or tax bills arrive in one go, which is why the two need watching separately.

How far ahead should a cash flow forecast look?

Usually thirteen weeks week by week for day-to-day control, and twelve months month by month for planning. If cash is tight we focus on the short term first.

Can you prepare a forecast for a bank or lender?

Yes. Lenders expect a forecast that ties back to your actual figures and explains its assumptions, and that is how we build them.

Do I need monthly management accounts as well?

Not necessarily, but the two work best together: management accounts show what happened, and the forecast shows what is coming. Many clients start with the forecast when cash is the immediate worry.

How much does cash flow planning cost?

A fixed fee agreed before we start, either one-off for a forecast or monthly to keep it rolling.
