Self Assessment Accountant for Sole Traders
Your Self Assessment tax return prepared and filed for you from £200, so you know what you owe well before the 31 January deadline. For sole traders, landlords and company directors across Glasgow, Lanarkshire and the UK.
What you get
Your Tax Return, Handled Properly
Our Self Assessment service starts from £200 for a sole trader tax return. We work out your taxable profit from your records, claim the allowable expenses you are entitled to, file the return with HMRC online and tell you exactly what to pay and when. The fee is fixed and agreed before we start, so the only figure that can surprise you is good news.
Starting prices
- Sole trader Self Assessment tax return
- from £200
- Monthly bookkeeping, if you want it handed over
- from £50 a month
- VAT returns, if you are registered
- from £50 a quarter
Every client gets a fixed fee agreed before work starts.
Profit worked out from your records
We turn your income and expenses into the figures HMRC needs, whether you keep spreadsheets, use Xero or QuickBooks, or hand over a folder of statements.
Allowable expenses claimed
We check what you can and cannot claim, so you do not overpay tax or claim something that would not stand up to an HMRC enquiry.
Filed online with HMRC
We submit the return as your agent and keep a copy of everything filed.
A clear tax bill and payment dates
You get the amount due, any payments on account, and the dates they fall, in plain English.
Bookkeeping and VAT if you need them
If your records need tidying first, or you are VAT registered, we can take that on too so the return starts from accurate numbers.
Key dates
The Self Assessment Dates That Matter
5 October
Deadline to register for Self Assessment if you started working for yourself in the tax year that ended the previous 5 April.
31 January
Deadline for online returns, and for paying the tax you owe for the previous tax year plus any first payment on account for the current one.
31 July
Second payment on account due, if HMRC has asked you to make them.
Any time after 5 April
The tax year ends on 5 April. Filing early does not mean paying early, but it does mean you know the bill months before it is due.
Rules and thresholds change, so we confirm the dates that apply to you individually.

FAQ
Questions, Answered.
How much does an accountant charge for a Self Assessment tax return?
Our sole trader Self Assessment tax returns start from £200. The price goes up if we need to do the bookkeeping first, if you are VAT registered, or if you have rental income or other sources alongside the business. Every client gets a fixed fee agreed before we start.
Do I need an accountant for Self Assessment?
Not legally, and plenty of people file their own. An accountant is worth it when your time is better spent on the business, when you are unsure what expenses you can claim, or when you have more than one income source and want to be certain the return is right.
Can you do my return if I have left it close to 31 January?
Often, yes, but capacity gets tight in January. The earlier you get in touch, the more certain we can be of filing on time, and the longer you have to plan for the payment.
Do company directors need to file a Self Assessment return?
Many do, particularly if they take dividends or have other untaxed income. If you are a director, we can prepare your personal return alongside the company accounts so the two line up.
Do you work with sole traders outside Glasgow and Lanarkshire?
Yes. Everything works through cloud software, email and video calls, so we work with sole traders across the UK. We are based in Uddingston, so local clients can meet us in person if they prefer.
